Sports Ticket Invitation Tutorial

Ticket invitations are a great way to get your guests in the mood for a themed party.  While this tutorial refers to a sports-themed ticket, it can be modified to suit any party (movie viewing, awards show, tv finale, basically anything in the entertainment industry immediately comes to mind)!  If you’d rather fill them in by hand (or use a program to add color/typing, here’s a very basic pdf).

What I used:

• Card stock paper
• Silhouette program (or anything similar: Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or even PowerPoint or Word could work)
• Silhouette machine

(1)  Make a rectangle (6”x2.25”).

(2)  Make 4 red rectangles (0.25”x2.25”). Make 2 white rectangles (One: 0.125”x2.25” and Two: 0.75”x2.25”). Make 1 coordinating color rectangle (0.25”x2.25”). Place according to image below. NOTE: I made my “white” rectangles blue for the purpose of this picture. They will appear white in all subsequent images.

(3)  Find an image you like. Make it 50% transparent (this will depend on the weight of your font and then darkness of your image). Size the image to 3.8”x2.25.” Place according to image below.

(4)  Now it’s time for the text! Make a text box with “Admit One.”

  • Font: Calibri (Arial works too)
  • Size: 12pt
  • Line spacing: 90%
• Content: TRIPP’S
  • Color: Coordinated with complimentary color strip, Black outline
  • Font: Freshman (available here)
  • Size: 20pt
  • Character spacing: 125%
• Content: “GAME TIME 11:30AM”
  • Color: Coordinated with red strips, Black outline
  • Font: Freshman (available here)
  • Size: 10pt
  • Character spacing: 110%
• Content: Redeemable for Adult Beverages or Goody Bag
  • Font: Calibri (Arial works too)
  • Size: 8pm
  • Character Spacing: 90%
• Content: SEC and subsequent boxes for ROW and SEAT
  • Font: Arial Narrow
  • Size: 10pt
  • Character spacing: 120%
• Content: 11 (Month) and subsequent boxes for date and year (two-digit)

(5) Add the below image of a barcode and size to 0.35”x2”.

(6)  If you’d like, add a logo image sized at 0.75″x0.55″.

(7)  Print the tickets on your cardstock, cut them out (either by hand or by machine like Silhouette or similar).  If you’re using a cutting machine, you can put a perforated cut above the second “Admit One” line for a ticket stub.
