How to cut felt

Cutting felt by hand can be a tricky and frustrating process.  Thankfully, there are many helpful hints out there.  After trying my hand at quiet books, felt dioramas, and countless other projects, here is my favorite technique for cutting intricate felt designs!

What I used:

• Felt
• Template
• Scissors
• Clear packing tape

(1)  Print out your desired design onto paper.  Cut out.

(2)  Affix paper to felt with clear packing tape (face down).

(3)  Cut out design.  You may also reuse the paper cut-out (which is now more sturdy because of the packing tape).

Tips:

• Make sure that you affix enough of the paper design onto the felt so that when you are cutting, the design stays in place.
